Seems like I'm too stupid for this :(

I have this lousy network interface problem. With F17 there is a new rule of naming network interfaces. But amahi wants still a "eth0", not that new "p2p1":

Code: Select all

[root@F17AMD64 ~]# hda-install xxx Verbose log file at '/root/hda-install-121114-203933.log'. Retrieving install code ... Install code looks good Stopping background software updates ... Thanks for the updates and especially the details. Will take another shot at this later today.

@ sgtfoo: About the last post ... what's the relation to Amahi 7?

@cpg: I have issues regarding the naming of network interfaces in VirtuaBox
As far as I know (cant look now in the wiki as I use currently Internet Explorer 6.0.3790) this wiki-entry is about hardware changes, like new Motherboard, new CPU and so on. But not about VirtualBox and not about the new rule of naming network interfaces of F17.

yea the network interface name change might still happen depending on how your virtualbox is configured.

Here's an excerpt (and sorry about the off-topic post)
If swapping:
>> network card <<
- you must ensure that the same ethernet device assignment stands as before the part swap.
- If anything eth0 may become eth1 afterwards, so you will need to rename it to eth0 via the Network Manager in the desktop. You'll want to reboot to finalize changes.
- use your favourite command line editor and edit with sudo/su..

bash code

$/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

which may look like this

bash code
# This file was automatically generated by the /lib/udev/write_net_rules
# program, run by the persistent-net-generator.rules rules file.
#
# You can modify it, as long as you keep each rule on a single
# line, and change only the value of the NAME= key.

# net device () (custom name provided by external tool)
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"

And notice the "eth0". If it is something else, make it eth0 and save the file and reboot.

Hello,

We wanted to try Amahi on Fedora 18. We tried with the F17 repo and it failed badly.

We found today the reason is that the format for F18 repos/rpms is new (technically, it uses db5 instead of db4 as a database format). Means all the RPMs may have to re rebuilt (ins addition of the repo itself).

Anyway, so for now, until we have a good F18 machine to work on, for now we can just use F17 and the f17 repo. :)

That stinks. So I take it we want to continue testing with F17 for now, but will move to F18 once those issues are sorted out.

We will, in due time. However we need a machine to build the repos, rpms, etc.

We have a lot to do still in the platform, so let's tackle that anyway.
