New test version of the platform! Looking for testers

looking for brave new testers! :)

this new and improved installer, it installs in the background, but it properly updates the browser with the status of the install.

it fixes a number of bugs ... notably #63. you can see most of the activity included in these fixes here: http://bugs.amahi.org/projects/activity.

the two rpms need to be installed at the same time:

for 32-bits:

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/364883/Amahi/hda-platform-2.7-3.noarch.rpm http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/364883/Amahi/hdactl-2.30-3.i386.rpm
for 64-bits:

Code: Select all

rpm -Uvh http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/364883/Amahi/hda-platform-2.7-3.noarch.rpm http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/364883/Amahi/hdactl-2.30-3.x86_64.rpm
with this you can install and uninstall applications and see the browser update on the stages of the install.

please report your experiences here ... :)

just a question:
isn't it better to run the rpm -Uvh --test <packages> command first? just so you know if everything goes OK.

good point!

testing is a good idea to make sure it will work!

did you try this new code? :)

yup, just installed it.

What I've done is download the 2 rpm's from the dropbox site to local (this makes running a test & subsequently installing easier).
the rpm -Uvh --test gave me a quick 100% succes, so I ran rpm -Uvvh --test (2 v's gives extra verbose info :geek:) and looked at the stuff rpm spat out and it looked good.

Installed the rpms, checked if the hda dashboard still loaded correctly, checked if the shares were available etc. and everything looks fine.

Just want to know if it's possible to roll back if something goes wrong (like rpm -e <newpackages>)

yes, it's possible to roll back.

rpm -Uvh --force and the url of the latest versions in the repo.

i am interested in the app install and uninstall. we need to make sure they work smoothly.

blergh, just had a major scare... I rebooted the hda (checking if everything comes back up as configured)... after 3 mins still no ping :o
ran upstairs, hooked up a monitor and saw that fsck was running... phew! (man it takes a long time to scan 1.6TB)

everything came back up as I expected, good work 8-)

will test the apps now

uShare

everything works fine.
installed uShare again without any troubles.

you want me to submit a logfile so you can check?
