How do I stop having dhcpd.conf overwritten

Postby rgmhtt » Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:27 pm

How do I stop having /etc/dhcpd.conf overwritten everytime I boot?

I know that monit is not the culprit, as I have already commented the dhcpd lines in it.

Once I figure out the various levels of dhcpd.conf configuration, I will provide some guidance.

Meanwhile for anyone wanting to test with vlans, HP Procurve 2524's can be picked up rather cheaply, but you have to learn to manage them. But this is HP's office branch switch and they promise to maintain its firmware. I have also found:

You would plug your hda into port 1, your dsl router into port 2, making your 'DMZ' vlan 1. Plug any direct access systems into your dsl router.

Port 2 could be your protected network (say the kid's systems) where any Internet access would have to be proxied through a web proxy on hda.

Port 3 could be VoIP and Port 4 Music, etc. Each requiring their own unmanaged switch if more than one system (another reason for going with the Procurves).
