Do I need to create the backup subdirectory?

Postby steverhci » Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:36 am

Hi.

I am new to the amahi server and am attempting to back up a Vista client (actually it is windows 7 RC) using the instructions in the wiki. However, when I tell windows to back up to \\hda\files\backups\steve-7-tower it tells me the path does not exist. Do I need to create a share named backups\steve-7-tower before setting up the client for a backup?

I created a share named backup and can back up to that location fine but I want to use the correct backup location.

Thanks.

You need to make it \\hda\backups\ not \files\, files is a given only for linux.

I will change the wiki.

Folders must be in place to backup to them, windows will not be allowed to create a folder on the server, unless you tell it to.
