Was a solution for the size limit ever figured out? I installed Time Machine yesterday and when it started backing up, I noticed I only had 50GBs. I stopped the backup and then tried changing the size per the wiki and restarting the service but it didnt change. I changed the location on the config file next, but once I did that, even though I could access the new backup share, the Time Machine application on my Mac didnt see it as a valid Time Machine backup location.

Seems like it was something in the configuration file that had to be changed to correct the issue.
