Tip: Windows backup

When I installed Amahi I was disappointed to learn that Windows 7 premium doesn't allow backups to network locations (only the professional, enterprise and ultimate versions do). However, after a simple google search I found a way to fool windows by creating a virtual hard drive:

So, if anyone else had a headache over this, here's the solution!

Cheers

Disclaimer: Haven't actually tried using it myself, since I at the moment just have a test setup of Amahi using an old laptop, but I have confirmed that windows backup can be configured to use it.

I don't know if it's worth diving into, but also, Microsoft SyncToy is pretty awesome as a "rsync for windows" for incremental backups

Yes the MS tool works quite well. More practical and simpler than making a virtual hard drive.

Will definitely take a look at SyncToy for syncing my personal files to my hda, but that won't be enough to do a full system restore in case my pc crashes, like Windows backup would, right?

Correct. However, Clonezilla Live CD is a good resource for full metal backups. I also like to use FreeFileSync for synchronizing my files between my PCs and HDA.
