Simple Backup

Guys,

I have been considering how to manage backups in my home server.

I bought 2 1000Gb drives and my original plan was to use RAID1 so that I always has a copy of the data. I understand strictly speaking this is not a backup (because accidental deletion is not protected) but this does protect against HDD failure.

My latest idea is to simply install the second harddrive into my desktop PC and then periodically backup all data from the server to my desktop. I am sure there are some applications that will do this (Rsync??). This seems like a very simple solution, in this case, my question is....
What am I missing?
Would you advise a different backup solution?

I also have an additional external 1000Gb HDD available.

Crashplan does inter-LAN backups (yes, even the free version) and quite eloquently with any OS.
Install it on both machines and in the background it handles moving backup data to other machines on your LAN. The cloud upload option is what costs money.

FYI Crashplan is not ready for Amahi 7. It's on the list to be worked.

By this you mean the crashplan app is not ready. You can still use crashplan by installing the "normal" crashplan way.

That is correct. You can do a manual install vs the Amahi one-click app.
