And by using this I don't have to log on to the HDA itself befor geting VNC access?
in that case, Great...
but that just leads us back to my first problem...
do you have any good ideas here?
Crashplan startup Issues
Re: Crashplan startup Issues
Using the Amahi VNC might fix the issue with CrashPlan working. It may be the remote desktop has some problem with the GUI.
By using VNC, it will have user logged in all the time, even after reboot. You won't know it is unless you use VNC to the HDA. That is how it's designed.

Re: Crashplan startup Issues
Thanks.
Amahi VNC solved the problems with reboot, and access to the HDA.
But, still same issue with CrashPlan...
I've also tested locally on the HDA. and exactly the same result.
crashplan starts and after 2-3sec it stops again...

Re: Crashplan startup Issues
Try uninstall and reinstall. It is a very temperamental app unfortunately.

Re: Crashplan startup Issues
Ok, I did the following...
Uninstalled CrashPlan via HDA Dashboard
rebooted HDA from Dashboard
reinstalled Crashplan via HDA Dashboard
loged onto my HDA, with Amahi VNC, after reboot (working perfect thanks for this tip...)
started terminal, as root (su -)
types in "CrashPlanDesktop"
excactly the same result as earlier...
CrashPlan Splashscreen shows for 2-3 sec, then nothing...

Re: Crashplan startup Issues
I am afraid I don't have the answer. You could try restarting CrashPlanDesktop.

what to backup
I folded...
I uninstalled the Amahi version, and went for a mannualinstall, downloaded from Crashplan site,
and now it's working perfect.
which leads to my next question...
what to backup.
I'm running Greyhole on my HDA, and I have a feeling that I need to backup the entire /var/hda/file folder.
but on my HDA I have three shares,
- movie
- picture
- music
and the only folder I realy care about to backup now is the picture folder.
is there any way to separate this, or do I need to backup the entire package since I'm running everything in greyhole?
and is there a way to restore single files from this backup, or do I need to restore the entire package?

Re: Crashplan startup Issues
You should be able to back up only the share you are interested in. As for restore, you would need to consult the CrashPlan web site for how that works.
Sorry to hear you did not get the Amahi version working. Hope it is an isolated incident.
