CrashPlanDesktop not launching

I seem to be a bit high maintenance this month so sorry for posting inane problems.

I used to use Crashplan as a manual install but due to some problems, decided to uninstall it and go with the Amahi version (helping the developers and all that!). I think I have uninstalled the old version OK. I am now unable to get the GUI running by using the CrashPlanDesktop command wither as root or user. I sus[ect this might be a simple fix but am struggling. Any helpers out there?

Thanks

Did you follow the wiki guidance for install? Also ensure when you removed the previous version, its important you got all the pieces.

A reboot in between uninstall and reinstall may be required.

Yes, in your home directory you'll find a hidden file called '.crashplan' that may need to be removed.
Actually, I would suggest just renaming it .crashplan.save for example.

Thanks guys for the help. There wasn't a .crashplan file but I think a reboot did the trick. I followed some instructions to properly delete Crashplan and when I got the GUI to work again, I managed to adopt the existing settings from the previous install which was handy, so I haven't lost my sync pairings

Awesome. It saves the settings somewhere, but not sure of the naming. There may be a .crashplan folder hidden away in a home directory. Probably worth finding for back up purposes.
