Hi all, I'm new to the forum (and amahi), so forgive me if i post in the wrong section.
What I'm looking for is an app to allow me to backup just certain file/folders to either a dvd or external usb drive, anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
john
File/folder backup app
Re: File/folder backup app
Are these files stored on the HDD of you HDA to another drive on your HDA?
My HDA has 2x1TB drives. First drive is OS+All my ddata. Second drive is a backup drive.
I have these commands I run...
rsync -auvv --delete /var/hda/files /backups
rsync -auvv --delete /home /backups
I am trying to figure out how to automate this. cron job is not a solution, because i always have problems with my system bogging down after a week or two. So for now i run them manually.

Re: File/folder backup app
You will not find a web app that will do this. It will either have to be a Fedora 14 desktop application or 3rd party client desktop app.
The post above tells you how to do it command line. There are some command line utilities that will allow you to write to DVD, but don't have a list.
If you have a Windows client, there are tons of free software that will do the trick.

Re: File/folder backup app
Thanks lads! never thought of using windows software, I am running Amahi as a VM on Windows home server, so that would probably be the best way.
Thanks again, John

Re: File/folder backup app
When I was using Windows Servers, I was using Second Copy. Excellent app. Not free though
