OK, I get it. Before I was thinking that I could be physically sitting at my Amahi server computer and network boot the computer I was going to backup(remotely). Instead I was sitting at the computer I was going to backup, rebooted it, hit F12, and then picked the net boot option.
The menu then came up to Backup or Restore. I stopped there because I need addtional disk space on my server to backup that computer up.
If I had clicked on "Backup" would it give me the option to just backup a particular file or directory or would it just do a full backup?

indeed very close!

the "dhclient eth0 wget... " mantra is only needed if you don't start from network but from a live distro (systemrescuecd or systemrescue on a USB stick).
If the client (not the Amahi server!) boots from the network without errors you won't need to do the dhclient stuff afaik.

i haven't used PBA yet, but it uses Partimage to do the backups, so it would probably only be able to do a complete backup. empty space, however isn't copied. only the information that's on the partition.

it'll do a full disk backup without the empty space. I've got a *checks quickly* backup listed like this:

Code: Select all

Backup Name Date/Time Size of Backup Drive Size winxp_tesla About 1 month ago 69.4 GB 111.8 GB
echo '16i[q]sa[ln0=aln100%Pln100/snlbx]sbA0D2173656C7572206968616D41snlbxq' | dc
