Can I install Crashplan to my Amahi 6 HDA?
Thanks,
Jim
crashplan Amahi 6
Re: crashplan Amahi 6
It was tested during Amahi 6 development and appears to be working. Currently, it is in beta and not sure when we will be moving it live.

Re: crashplan Amahi 6
I have just started out with Amahi and purchased Crashplan for Amahi 6.
Is it meant to show up in the dashboard and be controllable from there? I thought I would be able to control the backups from the HDA.
My dashboard does not at the moment although Crashplan server is running.
I am assuming this is a beta bug? Otherwise i don't see how this would be different from running crashplan locally?

No bug, it does not show in the HDA dashboard. Recommend you check out the wiki page on how to configure and use it.

Re: crashplan Amahi 6
I too just purchased Crashplan for Amahi. I had hoped it would provide some measure of control through the HDA web interface. Since I needed to use VNC and the desktop directly on my Amahi server to setup Crashplan even after purchase, I'm not sure what the difference would have been to go to the Crashplan site on my Amahi server and just download and install the free software.
I'm happy to spend some money on apps I see as valuable, but it would be nice if Amahi apps had at least a small measure of integration with the HDA interface. Perhaps set the backup directory.
I'm sure this reads like a big complaint. It's not meant to be. As I said, I paid for it and gladly since I hope to use this software for a while and I hope my purchase can help the developer release it. Is there a forum specifically for feedback on apps?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you did not get what you expected. We strive to provide our users with the best quality apps. While our intent is to make most of them one-click, install and not have to do much configuration, some just cannot be done that way.
Crashplan is one of those apps that could probably use some updating, but we currently have not had the resources to do it. Our small team is composed of all volunteers which does its best. Currently we are working to update Amahi for Fedora 16 to include testing apps. Once we get a stable version, we should be able to focus more on apps such as Crashplan to make them more solid.

Understand. Just wanted to clarify the points you mentioned. We appreciate the kind words and do try to satisfy our community. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes longer than anticipated.

Re: crashplan Amahi 6
Not sure where to report back on this beta project. I have been running the beta now for a few weeks. Seems to work great. A small problem is the CrashPlan Server "State" icon does not seem to be working right. After a restart of my hda it reports that CrashPlan is "stopped" with a red light. Click on restart or start or refresh will not change the status icon. However, the CrashPlan server is running. My client machine sees it without problem and can back up to it.
