Crashplan fedora 14 and 5.6 no workie

Postby LGSONE » Sat Nov 13, 2010 8:07 pm

Install via Crashplan's website goes fine execpt it says it cannot find Java....

Do you accept and agree to be bound by the EULA? (yes/no) yes

The current installed version of Java is not the Sun Java Runtime Environment.
CrashPlan requires the Sun JRE.

ERROR: Failed to find an acceptable Sun Java Runtime Environment
These paths were searched: /bin /usr/bin /usr/local/bin
Would you like to download the JRE and dedicate it to CrashPlan? (y/n) [y]

edit... one more tidbit
I found that odd so after I said yes I checked with java -version and.....

[root@LGSONE-HDA CrashPlan-install]# java -version
java version "1.6.0_20"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.9.1) (fedora-44.1.9.1.fc14-i386)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 19.0-b06, mixed mode)

So I say yes, and finishes the install as the website says it will. Then its time to run CrashPlanDesktop, and

[root@LGSONE-HDA CrashPlan-install]# CrashPlanDesktop
Command not found.
* Cancelling.. The search was cancelled as it was taking too long to complete.
You can increase the value of 'MaxSearchTime' in /etc/PackageKit/CommandNotFound.conf to change the timeout.
[root@LGSONE-HDA CrashPlan-install]#

Crashplan is already running as a service as it should be...

Any ideas crowd, Just did a fresh install of fedora 14 and Amahi and it is working perfect execpt for the known issues most are aware of, apps not available, etc....

Thanks All In Advance.

If you wouldn't mind, please add this app to the Fedora 14 wiki page as broke.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_14

Summarize the problem so we can take a closer look as Amahi development for F14 continues.

I will do my best to summarize and get it updated.

Hope the info included sheds some light, let me know if there is any additional info that will be of any help.

Thanks! I am thinking that maybe java-1.6.0-openjdk-devel may need installed. This is the same package we use for Adito and Web KeePass.

It seems to satisfy the Sun Java requirement.

Installed the java app you described via yum, restarted and tried the Crashplan install again with the same error that is: The current installed version of Java is not the Sun Java Runtime Environment. CrashPlan requires the Sun JRE

These paths were searched: /bin /usr/bin /usr/local/bin
