The OwnCloud Site states that they now have version 7 which is supposed to be a mayor overhull of the platform for the service.

Is there any reason I should install version 6 instead of version 7?

ownCloud 7 is not LIVE for Amahi yet. There are some issues with this release, therefore we have chosen to wait for an update from the ownCloud folks.

Recommend you start with ownCloud 6 and you can update to 7 when we release it. You can manually install it on your own now, but we cannot provide support.
