videos5 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Postby stern88 » Sat Jan 05, 2013 7:19 am

Hi!

I've a fresh install of Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and the application "Videos5":
root@hda:~# uname -a
Linux hda 3.2.0-29-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:03:23 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Indexing and Encoding doesnt work:

Code: Select all

/var/hda/files/Movies/Jabberwocky 1977/Jabberwocky.avi sh: 1: /usr/bin/mediainfo: not found sh: 1: /usr/bin/mediainfo: not found grep: ../logs/encode.log: No such file or directory PHP Notice: Undefined offset: 0 in /var/hda/web-apps/videos5/html/index.php on line 1359
Its not a problem regarding rights or anything else:

Code: Select all

root@hda:~# ls -rtl /var/hda/files/Movies/Jabberwocky\ 1977/Jabberwocky.avi -rwxrwxrwx 1 martin 1001 1565556736 Dez 24 2009 /var/hda/files/Movies/Jabberwocky 1977/Jabberwocky.avi
After installing mediainfo:
root@hda:~# apt-get install mediainfo

root@hda:~# ls /usr/bin/mediainfo

Everything works now:

Code: Select all

[As user www-data:] $ /usr/bin/php /var/hda/web-apps/videos5/html/index.php find ... /var/hda/files/Movies/Jabberwocky 1977/Jabberwocky.avi
Is it possible to put the package "mediainfo" as dependency for videos5?

-----------
At next it seems like handbrake-cli is missing (therefore videos doesnt encode):

Code: Select all

root@hda:~# ls -rtl /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI ls: cannot access /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI: No such file or directory
Installation:
(make sure you have installed python-software-properties)
root@hda:~# add-apt-repository ppa:stebbins/handbrake-releases && apt-get update
You are about to add the following PPA to your system:
These are the official HandBrake releases for Ubuntu. Official web site http://handbrake.fr/

HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows.
More info: https://launchpad.net/~stebbins/+archiv ... e-releases
Press [ENTER] to continue or ctrl-c to cancel adding it
...
Then:
root@hda:~# apt-get install handbrake-cli
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
Statusinformationen werden eingelesen... Fertig
Die folgenden NEUEN Pakete werden installiert:
handbrake-cli
0 aktualisiert, 1 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 3 nicht aktualisiert.
...
Everything seems to be fine:
root@hda:~# ls -rtl /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 17971528 Jul 18 18:16 /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI
Currently I'm testing the encoding, will give you feedback after the first successfull encode.

Yes there are problems with Videos5 and that's why it's not LIVE.

http://www.amahi.org/apps/videos5

It's currently in BETA status as we have not had the chance to work it. If you sort it out, please let us know so we can make updates to the app as needed. I will wait for your testing results to add the missing dependencies and such.

There are some apps that work fine with Fedora, but not Ubuntu. We hope to get them sorted out eventually, but for now we are focusing on Amahi 7 for Fedora 18.

Hey bigfoot, no problem, I know ;)
I just want to help a bit. Its a pitty that the great Videos5 doesnt work on Ubuntu as it was created for Amahi:

I'm trying to get it working on my Ubuntu-Box. I hope to find some volunteers by posting regulary my progress here in the forums who might help me.

I have not been able to locate handbrake-cli in the typical Ubuntu repo. I have added the other depends (mplayer and mediainfo), which should have installed initially. For some reason, the platform ignored them.

I am hoping once we can get handbrake-cli added, it works as that covers the remaining depends required for Fedora.

Please have a look at my first posting, 7th code-block:

I did for most of the updates so far. We are reluctant to have to add an addition repo to make things work. With that often comes other issues.

What does the python-software-properties provide? Maybe we can download the handbrake-cli and add it to the Amahi repo.

I have made some changes that should fix everything other than the handbrake-cli problem. Still trying to find a viable alternative for that one. The install log should now be error free after install.

thats true!
But what about copying handbrake-cli to your own repo (deb http://u12.amahi.org Amahi main)?

EDIT:
I'm currently wondering if this is needed for Videos5: http://h264.code-shop.com/trac/wiki/Mod ... e-Version2
??

Yea that was my thought. Where can we find the 32- and 64-bit files for download? If we can get them, I will have them added.

At launchpad ;)
https://launchpad.net/~stebbins/+archiv ... /+packages

Click on "handbrake - 0.9.8ppa1~precise1", than you can download the builds for i386 and amd64

EDIT:
just for you XD:
https://launchpad.net/~stebbins/+archiv ... _amd64.deb
https://launchpad.net/~stebbins/+archiv ... 1_i386.deb

Thanks. App has been updated to include handbrake. I think it's ready for a spin now. If you could test, that would be great.
