the other thing to look at is the encoding log ... should be in /var/hda/web-apps/videos5/logs/encode.log
Okay, because of the logs:
encoding with Videos5: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1527055/
encoding manually: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1531389/

How sure are you it's the same command being run in both cases?

(just checking)

Okay, I will check it now:
Okay, because of the logs:
encoding with Videos5: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1527055/
Line 1 says:

Code: Select all

Launching encode: nice /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI -i '/var/hda/files/Movies/Game of Thrones/Game of Thrones S01E02 Der Koenigsweg/Game of Thrones S01E02 Der Koenigsweg.mkv' -o '/var/hda/files/Movies/Game of Thrones/Game of Thrones S01E02 Der Koenigsweg/Game of Thrones S01E02 Der Koenigsweg.m4v' -e x264 -q 20.0 -a 1 -E faac -B 160 -6 dpl2 -R 48 -D 0.0 -f mp4 -X 720 -Y 480 --loose-anamorphic -m -x cabac=0:ref=2:me=umh:bframes=0:8x8dct=0:trellis=0:subme=6
Line 4 says:

Code: Select all

HandBrakeCLI -i 'Game of Thrones S01E01 Der Winter naht.mkv' -o 'Game of Thrones S01E01 Der Winter naht.m4v' -e x264 -q 20.0 -a 1 -E faac -B 160 -6 dpl2 -R 48 -D 0.0 -f mp4 -X 720 -Y 480 --loose-anamorphic -m -x cabac=0:ref=2:me=umh:bframes=0:8x8dct=0:trellis=0:subme=6

Hmm... differences are bolt.

EDIT:
no, differences are NOT bolt, as I cant format command lines

Hi!

I've changed the command for encoding. Now Handbrake uses its presets:

Code: Select all

Launching encode: nice /usr/bin/HandBrakeCLI -i '/var/hda/files/Movies/Game of Thrones/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee.mkv' -o '/var/hda/files/Movies/Game of Thrones/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee.m4v' --preset="iPhone & iPod Touch" [13:52:01] hb_init: starting libhb thread HandBrake 0.9.8 (2012071800) - Linux x86_64 - http://handbrake.fr 4 CPUs detected Opening /var/hda/files/Movies/Game of Thrones/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee/Game of Thrones S01E03 Lord Schnee.mkv... The encode works fine, Videos5 recognizes the format correctly and can play the videos. So - for my part - Videos5 works.

Went ahead and updated the app, presetting the command to what @stern88 suggested.

Released videos5-1.0.5.3 and updated the app.

Would be great if someone can reinstall and report how it works!
