Ubuntu Firewall

Postby drbones » Fri Oct 19, 2012 9:16 pm

Hello,

I moved over to ubuntu and having VPN issues. I wanted to look at the iptables like with fedora to make sure certain ports were accepting traffic. It turns out the Ubuntu is not using iptables, but instead has ufw (uncomplicated firewall) https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/serverguide/firewall.html

I guess I need to know if the Amahi installation adds a different firewall or if I need to enable iptables as noted in the above help section.

I love openvpn, but the new iPad I have for work doesn't support openvpn and I need ipsec to access files.

Thanks!

Hello,

Amahi does not add any firewall. It installs along side the defaults in Ubuntu. I believe UFW is not active by default in Ubuntu, but I could be mistaken.
