Ubunt V Fedora - Dont jump ship before you read this !

Before all you inveterate , tinkerers, geeks, experts, novices, users, techies , decide to Install Ubuntu please be aware that I have had a fair degree of pain and limited success getting Ubuntu to work for me. That's not saying it won't be fine for you as I suspect my hardware at low level just couldn't be identified by Ubuntu - In essence I had to revert to Fedora to get back my HDA which I deserted for the in-flavour OS Ubuntu. F.Y.I. I attach hardware snapshots of my HDA (now its running on F14 again) just be aware I could get it going on Desktop Ubuntu with issues and not at all on Ubuntu server. It wouldn't even detect my cd and allow the install to start !!

The snapshots are to indicate harware (disks, ethernet, chipsets of motherboard and even the old model of CD I was using) of my machine so if you have anything similar be careful.
