MYSQL login fails during installation on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit

Postby mikedurkin » Tue Jul 17, 2012 1:04 pm

Amahi installation consistently fails, apparently problems creating the anahihda user in MYSQL. The fail message is:

Error message: Access denied for user 'amahihda'@'localhost" (using password: YES)
Error SQLSTATE: 28000

Any suggestions to work around this?

Is this a fresh install of Ubuntu, following the guidance in the Amahi Docs site? If not, recommend you start there first. We have outlined the best steps for installing Ubuntu and then Amahi.

If you have any more details to provide, that would be great. The install log is located in /root folder and should be obvious based on it's name.

I had installed the LAMP server option as well. Problem solved with manual creation of the amahihda user with appropriate credentials, and creation of the hda_production database.

Hopefully someday there is some guidance available on installing on something other than a bare virgin system.

If you created users without going through Amahi, you are asking for trouble. There are pieces of Amahi that are linked to user creation. Manual user creation can cause issues.

We only support fresh installs at the moment. The OS has to be in a certain state for Amahi to install successfully. While an existing install may work at some point, right now we are focused on the bare virgin install as you mentioned.

By doing it differently, you risk breaking Amahi and results are unpredictable. I highly encourage you to follow the install guidance. We have worked hard to try and put out sufficient guidance for a successful install and hope it is useful.
