Problem installing VNC on Ubuntu

Postby bt107 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 2:47 pm

I decided to throw caution to the wind and installed Ubuntu over the weekend. The install appeared to go well. With guidance from the wiki and the forums I was able to re-install the hard drives and Greyhole rebuilt the shares. No problems there. I got Crashplan re-installed with no issues.

When I installed VNC (from the app store) it appeared to install correctly but wouldn't start. I've attached a snippet from the amahi-app-installer log. Any ideas what might have gone wrong?

Thanks!

The app does not work with Ubuntu. It is beta as it only works with Fedora. I presume you are seeing it because you purchased it for Fedora.

Recommend you uninstall it and follow the tutorial in the wiki for Ubuntu.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Install ... rver_12.04

We need a bug for apps that are not LIVE, but viewable by users due to purchase. Anything in the Dashboard that has an asterisk by it is BETA and should not be installed. It is likely that we have not got it working for Ubuntu.

No problem. Thanks for the quick feedback and thanks for the work you guys are doing to make Amahi a stable user-friendly platform. Maybe you don't hear it enough but us "less technical" users really appreciate it.

Thanks for the kind words. We do our best given the size of our team. We could not do it however without all the support and assistance we receive from our user community.

Amahi has become what it is today as a result.
