Hello,

I was thinking about having a go at installing the Ubuntu edition. In your opinion is it working well enough for a amateur to get up and running? If so I could document the process of moving from the current fedora edition to the ubuntu edition if that would be helpful.

Yes it should be stable enough. There is not much reuse from Fedora that can be done, other than data files without a lot of work.

Most users will want to install on Ubuntu and add existing Greyhole drives to it. It might be worth documenting how you would document the Fedora settings like Static IPs, additional share drives, etc.

I took a more advanced approach for my migration, but it's not documented. Anything you want to do and provide I am sure will be beneficial. I would ask that you document in the wiki if possible. We can then update and add to it as needed.

Nothing to do with installing Amahi on Ubuntu 12.04. Don't look at the heading, its the buttons on the right that show status. They are live as shown below:

To get a SSH server you can also just do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install ssh
in a console.

Best to use Amahi apps. We cannot support manual installs.

I used Amahi apps to install openssh and it worked great with no problems.

I also installed webmin, openvpn, ampache, phpmysql, ajaxplorer and lininfo from Amahi apps with no problem.
