eSata Sheevaplug install

Postby mattwire » Thu Jul 14, 2011 6:14 am

Hello,

I have installed amahi on my eSata sheevaplug based on the instructions here:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_Plug_Edition and
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Marvell ... er_Booting

Everything works fine except for eSata. The first thing I found is that the arcNumber needs to be set to 2678 for the eSata variant. This allows the kernel to detect the eSata port and port multiplier attached. However, I believe that it needs a kernel module sata_mv and this is not available on the supplied image. Can you help?

Well I fixed this by updating the kernel and replacing it with the sheeva version from http://sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva/2.6.35/2.6.35.13/

Bug raised http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/850

I have cleaned up and updated all the wiki pages relating to the Sheevaplug. See here: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_Plug_Edition

I cant get my SD card to boot up, it says something about the kernel image, I can give an output on the error as soon as I come home, but one thing i noticed in http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Marvell ... er_Booting was this line for the SD:
setenv bootcmd_mmc 'mmcinit; ext2load mmc 0:1 0x800000 /boot/uImage'
setenv bootcmd 'setenv bootargs $(bootargs_console) $(bootargs_root); run bootcmd_mmc; bootm 0x0800000'
Shouldn't the redmarked numbers be the same?

Awesome work on updating documentation. We have not been able to actively working on the Amahi plug support due to other priorities and the sunset of Fedora 12.

We typically do not develop on older versions, but not sure if that applies here. I have not seen anything from Fedora 14 for ARM support. Until we do, I don't foresee us moving forward.

I am not trying to discourage anyone by any means. I just wanted to shed a little light on why the Amahi plug edition has not been updated. We appreciate all the assistance from the community in keeping this platform going for those who do use it.

Maybe this could be something: :)
