I just read a little about the PLUG computer and am interested in these devices. So ya buy the plug, stick it in the wall, connect a network cable, and away it goes... seems too simple.. how does one go about setting it up to run as a file server? How do the harddrives with files connect? Are any available with Amahi already installed?

I'm looking in to getting a plug computer... I think you're right in what you say. From what I've read, it's essentially a head-less tiny desktop. You plug it in, connect to its IP address and set up from there. I think you connect to it to set up drive shares etc. I'd be interested to see what other people have to say about it...

Hi,
I have a guruplug and followed the install and now have it installed on a USB and boot from it
as for away it goes...it depends what you want to do.
the Share is for sure working. Lots of applications are working on the plug (
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/SP_Apps )
it also list some that don't work for various reason.
To install it see here:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_Plug_Edition
And finally I am not sure if some plug have Amahi natively installed on it.....it requires about 1Gig and most plug have about 512MB only
may be the devs know more
