there is NO reason this cannot be made to work on f9.

going back to f8 is not good.

if you can put it in the form of a precise sequence of steps for us to reproduce it, we can fix it.

Thomas,

1. could you try with a share that is not on NTFS?
(to check whether it is a NTFS related issue or a general samba issue)

2. could you post a level 10 samba log (/var/log/log.smbd usually)
of such a failing access

3. What version of samba did the old installation on fedora 8 feature?
And which version is installed in the new system?

4. What is the precise error message you see on Windows?

Cheers - Michael

PS: the #amahi irc channel on freenode might be better suited to discuss
your problem since it has less latency...

Hey,

sorry for my late response, was a bit busy with my exams...

Well I tried the default amahi shares (the ones on the linux partition) and they didn't work either

I have no clue what samba version I had running, the error message I see in windows is: "Can't sync, windows doesn't have exclusive access to the file... or just sometimes that it can't lock onto the file... I'll post the log in a min..

Thanks
