CLOSED: Password for HDA Shares

Postby gwynap » Wed Feb 06, 2019 11:48 am

I recently installed Amahi 11 fresh. I changed my password in the HDA Setup, but to access my shares from Windows only the default password "administrator" works. How do I sync the passwords? Thanks!

So if you changed the password on the HDA, then the Windows password wouldn’t work.

Is this user different from the default user installed?

I presume you used the Express CD?

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, this is for the default HDA user "admin" and I did use the Express CD. To me, it seems like the new HDA strong password I created did not propagate to Samba on the HDA side.

I can access my shares from Windows using the default HDA password "administrator" but it'd be good to sync with the new strong password.

Does the new password work logging into the HDA via web browser and SSH?

If so, try restarting the HDA to see if that helps.

If you changed the password for admin, using the default password to access shares should not work.

Also recommend you do the OS updates:

Code: Select all

sudo dnf update

As a workaround I reinstalled using the Minimal CD rather than Express to avoid the creation of the admin user. Everything is ok now.
