Anyone know any specific impacts this could have? For mounting drives with your data, we also recommend ext4. However you can use many other file systems, like FAT and NTFS. These may come with some loss of functionality like permissions, file sizes or journaling.

CLOSED: NTFS Shares
Here's a fun question. I have a customer that is using very expensive Windows based software that needs NTFS partitions in which to keep its files. They have no backup that they can share on the network. (They are currently carrying around an external USB drive to share projects.) I think that an Amahi server could be a huge benefit to their company in other ways. What potential issues could they face if the shares are mounted on an internal NTFS drive on an Amahi server? The Amahi FAQs say

A search of the internet yielded Linux Windows NTFS Differences and Potential Problems page that should answer any questions.

Re: NTFS Shares
I think I understand the gist of the article you posted. Acceptable file name parameters are different between the *nix and windows and this causes problems. What I am proposing is a separate OS drive that is standard Linux partitioning that houses Fedora and Amahi and only the shares on an NTFS formatted drive of their own. Can you see a way that the article's concern would impact that when all of the computers moving files to those shares are windows NTFS based? I admit, that what I am proposing is not normal and I could be missing something. That is why I am coming here and getting some perspective.
Re: NTFS Shares
Not sure if you will get much feedback here.
I would recommend you research on the internet.
Using NTFS is a Fedora type situation. Not really affected by Amahi.

Re: NTFS Shares
What a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? That is the better place to go. Thank you for your reply. I will check the fedora forum.
