Weird access problem

Postby akreaxun » Mon Jan 25, 2016 12:08 pm

Hi

I have two folder I would like to share with a second user. Samba and /var/hda/files... have the exact same permission setting for both users and folders. Let me illustrate what is working and what is not in a table:

source of access / folder / user 1 / user 2
windows / Pics / yes / yes
windows / Docs / yes / no (error: password not correct - yet same as above)
owncloud "external storage" / Pics / yes / no (error unknown - just does not connect)

I cannot find a solution because this seems to be completely arbitrary and I have checked the permissions several times.

Something I have discovered recently for Docs: when I want to check the folder size in hda settings, I get the error message

Code: Select all

du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Weltreise': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Computer': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Business': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Tauchen': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/ETH': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/.DS_Store': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Games': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Privat': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Hochzeit': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/._.DS_Store': Permission denied du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/Docs/Umweltalumni': Permission denied 4096 /var/hda/files/Docs
There does not seem to be a problem with Pics... W-E-I-R-D

Code: Select all

ls -l
for smaba and /var/hda/files... are exactly the same for both folders and subfolders.

any idea?

thanx

Have you checked directory and ownership permissions?

The error leads me to believe that's the issue.
