I would appreciate it if someone would point me in the right direction... I'm not even sure where to start..
I'm an Amahi noob... I've just installed Amahi 7 on Federa 19. Everything was going smoothly, I set up the shares using the instructions on the wiki...
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/SharingToMacOSX
The shares seem to work fine, but even just navigating through the folders (from a MBP running OSX 10.10.2) is super slow... sometimes the contents of those folders take mins to appear.
File shares super slow from OSX
Re: File shares super slow from OSX
Hey,
Thats a problem more users seem to have, and it appears unrelated to Amahi, and more so related to the SMB implementation in OS X.
if memory serves correctly, it has to do with OS X using a different implementation of SMB then Samba (which is the backend for file sharing on linux/Amahi) There is a fix for it somewhere, i'll try to see if i can find it
in the meantime, connecting to the share by going to cifs://server/share seems to solve things for a lot of users

Thought I'd update this since I still see it brought up a lot. For right now, if your on 10.10.x or more, do yourself a favor and download this little program called SMBconf.
Download form the link below:

Yeah nothing Amahi related..Apple made the default protocol SMB3 in Yosemite 10.10 instead of using SMB2 like they did in Mavericks 10.9. There is a fix/workaround.
Just run the file in the link above which will allow you to use the SMB1 protocol if your having problems. Personally, this fixed all my latency issues on both a macbook pro and iMac running 10.10. I am on a wired 1000Gbps network and when browsing through my network directory, it's just as quick as if I were browsing folders locally.
Oh and I'd tell everyone to stay away from CIFS as well. It's old and slow, universally hated in the IT world, and I wouldn't expect it to be around much longer with SMB pretty much being the standard with SMB4 the latest version to come out. It would only be a last resort method. http://blog.fosketts.net/2012/02/16/cifs-smb/
