Addition of RAID array

I have recently installed Amahi Home Server onto a single SSD, which is fine.
Now I am looking to add storage.
I want to add a RAID1 array (of 2 x 1Tb WD Black) for my files and as a Linux novice I simply don't know how to do it.
I have the options of software based RAID with the hard drives attached to the SATA channels on my mainboard, or the usage of an Adaptec 1420SA but after installing the 1420SA earlier and checking on Webmin it looks as though the OS doesn't recognise it.

So, any help would be great

I did notice these articles yesterday, but in my case I am looking to create the storage array after the point of installation.

I just noticed an entry in the Wiki for software raid
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Software_RAID

and another of interest:-
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding ... o_your_HDA

I'll be checking out those later when I'm in front of the server.

Essentially as long as it has redundancy and ideally some level of notification of an issue, they are my only requirements.

If you are looking for redundancy, why not just use Greyhole?

OK then, I'll look at that later instead.
One last question, with the way it works and keeps copies of files etc, how can I calculate drive space as I normally would with RAID?

Not sure how you do with raid. The dashboard will show it and can check via command line too.
