File Shares seem to be capped at 2 MB

Postby orcrist » Sat Mar 29, 2014 1:37 am

So, long story short... I just installed this new Amahi server. Installed Fedora 19 and Amahi 7. Put two 1TB drives in for storage and formatted and partitioned those. Set one of the drives to be main storage location and reconfigured all mthe shares to point to this path. Installed and configured Greyhole manually according to the wiki here as Amahi 7 doesn't support Greyhole in the web interface.

Now when I try to copy to a share, no matter what user account or which Share folder I use, it seems to be capped at 2 MB.

I can copy a bunch of files as long as they add up to less than 2MB. If the file or folder is larger, it throws an error. It is this way for all of the shares. I can copy 2MB to each of them if I want to.

For example, copying a folder 2.88 MB in size to Pictures where I already have 970KB:
"There is not enough space on Pictures. You need an additional 1.88MB to copy these files."

It doesn't matter if I map the share first or just link to it under \\HDA.

Now the drives have plenty of room. I am using the two 917GB drives. They are only 1% full.

@localhost ~]$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/fedora-root 50G 1.9G 45G 4% /
devtmpfs 493M 0 493M 0% /dev
tmpfs 502M 0 502M 0% /dev/shm
tmpfs 502M 568K 501M 1% /run
tmpfs 502M 0 502M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
tmpfs 502M 24K 502M 1% /tmp
/dev/sdb1 917G 72M 871G 1% /var/hda/files/drives/drive2
/dev/sda1 917G 74M 871G 1% /var/hda/files/drives/drive1
/dev/sdc1 477M 68M 385M 15% /boot
/dev/mapper/fedora-home 136G 60M 129G 1% /home

Googling about Samba and Greyhole configuration has been no help so far. It seems like this must be some kind of configuration error capping things at 2MB for some reason. I can't find it. Any ideas?

(also, apologies if I drop offline after posting this. The issue came up trying to clean off my work laptop a bit before a road trip. I'll either solve this tomorrow or be back to work here in a couple weeks.)

Not sure what the issue might be. Check to see that all your shares reflect the correct ownership. Should be your 1st admin user:users for all.

I have not heard of this issue in the past, so must be something unique to your install.

Sounds almost identical to the issue that I had viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5516. Basically the way greyhole works (so I have read) is you have the landing zone, where when you copy files to a share, greyhole puts them in the LZ location and then finds a place to put it in the drive pool, and copys it over. In my case, my LZ was 45GB and I had about 300GB to copy over, but I was able to copy things over partially at a time, sort of like filling something with a funnel. In your case, 2MB is rediculously low, and I would recommend you look at the possible options BigFoot posted in that thread.
