Hey guys,
I installed Amahi 7 a month or so ago after using Amahi 6 for a few years. I have twice gotten the warning that my root partition is full, and have never seen it before when I used Amahi 6. The first time, I emptied my recycle bin on the hda, and it seemed to help. The recycle bin is empty this time. The / partition is set at 100GB, and this has happened after I was moving large amounts of data from my PC to the shares on Amahi. I do not use greyhole, the server has (4) 2TB drives, and the shares are pointed directly to the drive (i.e. var/hda/files/drives/drivename/share). Any help topics I have seen refer to landing zone, LVM partitions or a large log folder (none of which apply or seem to be the problem). I did not set up a home partition because, based on the guide I used to install, it didn't seem necessary.
I'm thinking it has to do with when files are copied to the shares. I back up my DVD's as iso's, so I can easily re-encode if necessary. I was moving the iso's to their share when I saw this in VNC. I could be way off, but don't really know what to do. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Also, the main drive is a 320GB or so drive, set up w/ 3 ext4 partitions ( / , /swap and /boot), and there is an portion of it (about 130GB or so) is unused. I can resize it w/ gparted live, but I'd like to fix the reason 100GB filled up in a month instead.
Let me know what you need, thanks in advance.
SOLVED: Amahi 7, Root Partition Full
Re: Amahi 7, Root Partition Full
Recommend you check /var/log folder to see if log files are taking up the space. Also could be the /tmp directory as well. Once you can figure our what is taking up the space, you can delete the offending files.

Re: Amahi 7, Root Partition Full
Doesn't seem to be that. Checked before, there pretty close to empty.
It seems that it is definitely in my root drive

But all of my file space seems to be taken up in my data drives.

I'm confused.

Re: Amahi 7, Root Partition Full
Well I feel dumb . . .
Apparently, My back up drive wasn't mounted, and my daily backup was saved into the drive folder that it mounts to, so it filled the space on my root partition almost perfectly. I didn't realize it because I thought it was mounted, so "pooh-poohed" the folder thinking it was a drive. Once I moved the backup file onto the drive, my root is only showing about 4GB. At least it only chewed up part of a day, could've been worse!
Thanks for the help, this forum is excellent, Love Amahi!
