Hi,
I'm trying to set shares on my new amahi 7 instalation but I can't find the "location" of my drives.
Amahi dashboard shows disks as /dev/sda (or sdb; sdc; sdd) and do not give the mounting point (as it was possible to see in version 6).
I did a fresh, untouched, instalation of amahi 7, so I assume that the default mounting points sould be the correct ones but I can´t find that information anywere.
Can somebody help, please?
SOLVED: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Have you turned on Advanced Settings?

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Yes I did.
But the board for advanced settings it's different from version 6 and not showing the mounting points (I believe that the mounting points appeared under the Greyhole management and on version 7 Greyhole it's not installed)

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Mounting points for all drives is under disks. There is a sub tab there that should reflect what is mounted where.
EDIT: You can also look in /etc/fstab to see where you mounted drives. If you ran hda-diskmount, then it would have automatically mounted drives in /var/hda/files/drives/drive1, drive2, etc.

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Also if you are adding drives for Greyhole, they do not automatically mount when you install Amahi 7. Any extra drives from the OS drive need to be mounted using the script.
I imagine you probably knew that already though. Maybe your question needs to be rephrased if I don't understand what you are asking.

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Thanks for your effort.
I will try to explain a little bit better.
I have a desktop with 2 hard drives plus 3 external drives (Usb connected).
They all are visible (attched file Disks).
On the partitions I can only see the details of the partition where amahi is installed (attached file partitions).
What I want to know is what is the default path os drive mounting in Amahi 7 (because I've run a clean install and touched nothing so that I can place the right path to my storage drives in the share definitions (attached file path).
Hope you can help

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
So have they been mounted using hda-diskmount? If so, then probably the easiest way to see what shares are on which drive is via command line.
You can do:
and that will tell you what directories are on that drive. Repeat for others, i.e. drive2, etc.
If these have not been mounted with hda-diskmount, then they are not accessible via Amahi. You will need to do that first. That will also require you add them to the /etc/fstab in order for them to mount on boot/reboot.
Most folks use extra drives for Greyhole so all there shares are in /var/hda/files. Then when Greyhole replicates, copies are added to each drive allotted to the drive pool based on settings in the /etc/greyhole.conf file.
If I have confused you, may I recommend you take a look at the Greyhole page in the wiki for guidance. There is more information there.
You can do:
Code: Select all
ll /var/hda/files/drives/drive1

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
Thanks for the info.
I don't want to use Greyhole (I only mentioned it because on Amahi 6 settings is where I could find the information about the mounting points).
I didn't use any command to mount the drives (the drives whore attached to the desktop and I ran a clean install with the DVD express).
Amahi 7 is headless so I do not have display or keyboard attached to the desktop.
Amahi 7 does not have desktop (graphical) management.
The drives are mounted (so it seems because they appear on the devices list) and they worked properly on Amahi 6.
I just need to know what i would define as path on the shares definitions.
I assume that it was an easy answer for the persons that are experts on Amahi (that's not, obviously, my case) but i'm starting to think that I'm giving you to much trouble.

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
No trouble, but am guessing I still do not understand your configuration.
Are the drives mounted to the HDA? If so, I presume they were when you did the Amahi 7 install. Given that situation, they may not mount as in previous desktop versions. You may need to run hda-diskmount to give them a permanent home.
The guidance in the wiki for adding additional hard drives provides all the info you should need.
EDIT: The drives appear on the device list because the OS sees them, but they are most likely not mounted. That is where the script will come in to play. Good indication that they are not mounted is there are no drive temperatures for them.

Re: Amahi 7 - Default mounting point
The proper way to install Amahi with additional drives is to only have the OS drive connected when you install it. Then use the wiki guidance to add each additional drive, one at a time. This ensures the most success.
