file indexing service available?

Postby masonje » Sun May 05, 2013 5:38 pm

I just installed Amahi on my HP MediaSmart server and the install went smoothly (for the most part).

Now I'm working on getting a few other things set up, but I was wondering if there was an indexing service like there was on the Windows Home Server software that scanned and indexed the files on the samba shares? Would be nice if that index was made available to both my Windows and Linux desktops. I have had the files on the server for a while now and it doesn't appear to be doing this (or at least keyword searches are not showing the results I would expect from simple txt files).

Not sure about this one. Might be worth checking on the internet. I do know that there is a file search option with the dashboard.

Not sure if this will meet your requirement, but thought it was worth mentioning.

I've used the search option on the dashboard a few times and it works as expected. You tell it you want to search your HDA and it pulls all files associated with the keyword.
