Question from a new user:

Hello All,
I have just installed Amahi home server on one of my machines i have created
a "domain" but how do i get my windows pc's added to that domain e.g when i
am on Win Xp Pro, if i go to domain and type in my domain ****** It will
just come back and say it cannot be found.
My computer is also currently in a workgroup called "Workgroup" And it
cannot see the Amahi home server,
Any ideas how to get my Pc added to my domain?

Amahi's default Samba configuration is not setup for being a domain master.

The workgroup is set up automatically to be the same domain as what you configured for your network (the default is home.com).

Can you follow the network troubleshooting guide and indicate what step you get stuck at?

Do you have some firewall running in the client computer?

There are some people interested in making Amahi act as a domain master. If you have some ruby skills, you can probably make it happen relatively easily.

What I did for my Windows machines is add my domain as a workgroup (i.e. home.com). This allows me to see the Amahi home server as well as any other machines sharing that workgroup.

actually, there is!

there is just work going on starting in the last two days in the irc and wiki to run amahi as PDC.

we will have a test platform to support this soon. if you have experience with this, you can help tune it. well, even if you don't, you can help test it out.

we can use this thread as well to communicate, however, test platform releases will probably not be posted here to prevent unsuspecting people from accidentally installing something not quite ready.
