have amahi media shares in remote location

i have amahi running through vmware server on an intel core I3 4gb ram poweredge t110. i have a 750gb drive dedicated for my media. i have to have windows running to stream my movies to my apple tv. is there a way to have amahi read and store its media from a drive that is primarily connected and shared from a windows OS? i want to avoid having duplicates files which would add up to a lot of waste.

Well, you could create a separate partition to hold the files that Amahi would serve. Your Windows os could serve your TV media and Amahi could serve other files.

I'd be wary of trying to have two servers sharing the same media. That sounds like it could lead to problems.
