Re: User password mis-match after changing password in hda w

I have the same issue on amahi 7.1 / Fedora 19

Set up initial user and password. Later on I changed the password via the web admin page. Samba still expects the original password on all machines, even though the server has been rebooted and even on clients that have never connected before.

I have a suspicion that the server isn't changing the samba password correctly.

I cant seem to log into the bug tracker - It doesn't accept my normal Amahi login?

You should be able to log in. Might need to email support to get assistance.

As for your issue, I have a few questions.
  • 1. Can you log into the Dashboard after you changed the password?
    2. Have you been able to access shares from any client?
    3. What OS are your clients?
    4. How do you try to access the shares?
    5. Have you tried setting the password for the Amahi user to match one Client credentials?

Here what I did.

I have a number of machines that connect to shares on the Amahi automatically when they boot up - Primarily a mac mini and a windows Vista machine. The vista machine maps a number of drives to the shares.
Thanks.

I had an old HDA - Fedora 14 I believe - Two Amahi releases ago . This had a number of shares set up, and the machines above connected under my user name 'andy'

I recently built a new HDA with the same hostname, and recreated the same username and shares, but gave the user a different password, without considering that all the shares automatically set up on the other machines now wouldn't connect.

As expected, they didnt.

I then figured that for simplicity sake I would just change the HDA users password to what it was previously, on my old setup. I did this via the web admin page.

I can now access the web admin page via the new password, but access to any samba shares, from any machine, still requires the password originally created when I built the new HDA. Changing it in the web admin panel does not seem to have changed it for samba.

Can you try creating a new network mapped drive to a share? Then try accessing that share and see if you receive a login box. If so, then use the credentials and see if it connects.

There is a place in Windows where you have to clear out old mapped drives and stored passwords. Can't remember where, but will post it here when I find it.
