Renaming shares?

Postby DragonQ » Wed Sep 21, 2011 1:30 am

Hi,

I'm not really sure how I want to set up my shares at the moment (e.g. separate Films and TV shares or one Video share). Is it possible to rename a share after it has files in it? If not, can I just delete the share and add a new share with a different name pointing to the same location, to get the same effect?

I'm using Greyhole storage pools by the way.

Thanks.

Yes it is possible. You would need to remove the share via the dashboard and enter the new name. If you want the actual folder with files to match, from command line you can do a simple mv currentfolder newfolder. Then ensure the path for the share in the dashboard matches the newfolder name.

It most likely will cause Greyhole to see the files as new and do its magic.
