Vista home premium backup

Postby chupacabra » Mon Jun 21, 2010 10:16 pm

Gives me this: "The network share could not be accessed for the following reasons:
Could not create a file when that file already exists (0x800700B7)
Please ensure that the network location is valid"

and if I look, there is a file in my backup share but has nothing in it.

I have googled for 3 hours now.

Thank you

Are you logged in the share where the backup is taking place as destination?

The file there may suggest you are. Just checking.

Maybe check the permissions of the directory or the login credentials in the backup program ?

This topic is mentioned in another thread called "Vista Home Premium..." with no resolution. Yes, I can log into the share and put files in and out. I even chmoded the dir 777 to see but it did not help. The backup process puts a file name in (but the file is empty) before it gives up the error. Unlike the other fellow My hard drive is in the machine itself so that is not the issue. I was using Fedora9/amahi and it was working perfectly. I upgraded to f12 and this is when the issue arose. Since that was broken I tried F13 and it is still broken. Everything else is fine however. I am going to be setting up backups on some xp machines here too but probably not till the weekend.

The docs concerning the problem I found said to "give 'Everyone' all permissions on the file". (A windows fs thing) but as you might know ext4 doesn't know what I'm trying to tell it from Vista.

Please halp.

Thanks

Is there a way to set the backup program to do a full system backup in Home
Premium ? Or will I need to get a third party backup program ?
