Hi all I'm trying to setup a WD mybook world to my amahi server. Amahi is setup on eth0 and i have mybook set on eth1. it shows to have a ip but i can't see it or connect to it. I'm running fedora 12 and all software is up to date. this is a Dell PowerEdge 2650 server. Also this drive has samba shares on it already. Thanks for any help.

Amahi and eth0 is good. The mybook on eth1 confuses me... Do you have DHCP setup on a seperate network on eth1?
it shows to have a ip but i can't see it or connect to it.
what does ifconfig /all show from your command line

thanks for the reply. i'm trying to use my bookworld for my amahi shares. i used second port on ethernet card of my server instead of the router. i am using amahi for DHCP. i want to map the amahi folders to the mybook folders (hda/pictures mybook/pictures)i read about the mapping the folders but i can't see mybook on the server. hopefully this you understand what i'm trying to do.

right now Amahi does not have or support router features which is what you are trying to do with the WD. Can you hook it up by USB instead?

If i understand correctly, this does not have to do with router functionality.

However, you do need to make sure the device has an IP in the network.

You can then mount the shares from the device onto your HDA, using the mount.cifs command, which mounts samba services.

See the Sharing to NAS page on how to do that (your device probably looks like a NAS).

yes this is correct.it had a ip address i just didn't use the mount.cifs command. since my server runs DHCP would it matter if i connected the nas to the server or the router? the sharing to NAS is exactly what i would like to do. Thanks
