can not access shared folders

I am a linux user f12 amahi 5.1 I can not access the shared folders when I type //hda/Music or whatever it takes me to the amahi home page user screen. I click on the shares tab there are a number of options books, doc, music, video etc. I rooted mkdir failed already there can someone tell me why I can not access them as well as populate them.

Have you tried \\hda\music? Your post indicates the slashes are the wrong ones.

yes, sorry I did try \\hda\music and this is what came up http://guide.opendns.com/?url=\\hda\music&client=ff.
