Oh, I'm sorry, I should have suggested and easier command:

sudo gedit /var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json

That's an easier editor to use.

If you are using System->Administration->Users and Groups, select Edit->Preferences and then un-select 'hide system users and groups'. That should cause all groups to show up in the list.

I don't use Transmission, but I assume you should see Transmission in the groups list. If so, double click on it in the list. This should bring up the group properties dialog for transmission. Click on the 'Group Users' tab and select the username for each person you want to be able to use transmission.

That's it.

I hope that helps. Let us know if you have problems.
hello iam trying to do this .. do i do this, on linux side or windows side or Amahi web interface...... thank you
easiest is to login using VNC and then follow the directions given here.

or if you are familiar with the xterm you can use SSH and putty.exe to do this. But I wouldnt know how!

have not tried this yet ..... if i uninstall transmission, do i need to buy again ? ..... i would like to start over ..... transmission is not working for me now at all , but worried i need to pay again .... whats the best way to uninstall ? transmission .... to get everything back to default
then i will reinstall .. then do
sudo gedit /var/lib/transmission/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json

Once you purchase an app, it is yours. You can uninstall and reinstall it many times.

I would look in your log file(s) to see if there are error messages relating to transmission. Its possible there is a transmission log file somewhere (I'm not familiar with it).

Another possibility is to open up a terminal and try a couple of commands:
ps -e|grep transmission

To see if a transmission daemon is still running.
If not, try:

service transmission start

This should try to start it up. Perhaps it will display some error messages that might tell us what is wrong. If you see any, copy them and post them here so we can help.

Ok, 'transmission' must not be the name of the daemon.

Anyone know what the name of the transmission daemon is?
