Only Books and Pictures Shares Accessible
Re: Only Books and Pictures Shares Accessible
Ok, do this for me if you already havent, make a new user in the dashboard (http://setup) and see if that one works with all shares.
Having problems with connecting to the internet? Try the Network Troubleshooter.
Not sure what your Gateway IP? Head on over to the Find Your Gateway IP page to find out easily.

Re: Only Books and Pictures Shares Accessible
the /etc/samba/smb.confShould those directories be owned by that user? That's the first user I created while installing Fedora (and that I have since changed the password on).
For the smb.conf file, do you mean the one in /etc/samba or the one in /usr/share/hdactl/samba?
note - how did you change the user password?
should be done via the setup -> users tab.
not with the linux command line.

Interesting--I already had 2 users created, but when I created a new one this seems to have fixed the problem for all users.
And I changed the password originally (after the initial Fedora install) via the Amahi interface.
Not sure what the deal was, but seems to be working at the moment! Thanks to everyone for all the help.

did you reboot the client(s)?
the other factor is windows - sometimes, it stubbornly tries to connect as a "previous" user that had connected.
or something like that. this ought to be in the wiki, but i cannot find it.
btw, we have PDC support and it's seemsnly stable, if you are into that ...

Code: Select all
net delete /all

By PDC do you mean primary domain controller?
Re: Only Books and Pictures Shares Accessible
yes, primary domain controller support. it's largely working. the one thing remaining is automating better how to join machines to the domain.

Cool--don't think I really need that (only one Windows box on my network) but cool that it's there! For Windows-based networks this is pretty huge.
Re: Only Books and Pictures Shares Accessible
here is the link to the primary domain controller wiki page with the directions to join machines to the domain.
i'm told it's huge, yes. hope so! we could use a few thousand more users. promote amahi!
