I am trying to just open shares to the Amahi files in Linus Mint 16. I have Amahi Server running on an Ubuntu box, and it shares files fine with other Ubuntu Linux systems using these instructions:
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/SharingToLinux
I have used these on several different Ubuntu boxes, with no problem. I have a Windows PC, it has the shared mapped and works flawlessly. I don't understand why Mint has to be so darned stubborn. It's like they have to make it 'different' from Ubuntu, and screw the thing up in the process.
It will NOT install SMBFS per the instructions above, saying there is no such package. It has Samab and cifs-utils installed, however when I issue the command mount.cifs '\\hda\Music' /Music -o user=kevin
it asks for a password, hesitates too long, then comes back with:
mount error(115): Operation now in progress
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
The manual doesn't seem to have error codes in it. The forums seem to mostly deal with Windows users having mount / share issues. The few I've found with Linux problems all seem to deal with permissions on the Amahi server, but I know the other Linux box I have that runs ubuntu is sharing without a hitch.
Any idea why this is happening? Seems like I had this with Mint once before, and just blew it away and put Ubuntu on, but this laptop display driver doesn't work with Ubuntu, only Mint - why? That's a whole other can of worms...
Thanks for any suggestions.
Unable to mount share in Linux Mint
Re: Unable to mount share in Linux Mint
No idea.
This is obviously a problem with Mint. Only suggestion I can offer is to look ont eh internet for Mint mounting Samba shares.
