SOLVED: Mounting Shares Locally... Next Steps

Postby jtoone » Tue Apr 26, 2016 5:10 pm

I got greyhole and plex installed and plex recommended to mount shares managed by greyhole locally. I went through that walkthrough and got them mounted locally, but I had a question once that's done. Do I need to change all the paths on the Shares tab to point to the new /mnt/samba/ folders where the shares are mounted? Do I just need to change greyhole shares?

TIA for the help!!

No change to Greyhole or shares is needed.

You would need to update Plex to access shares via /mnt/samba/share name possibly

Also you might find guidance in the wiki regarding Plex as well.

This is for manipulating files in Greyhole shares via the HDA directly. In other words not using a client like Windows which goes through Samba.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info.

All files will be accessed through Windows using mapped drives and (hopefully) plex both inside the network and remotely from my work. I'll hit up the plex wiki to get it all configured correctly!

No problem.

Since Plex is on the HDA, it accesses files directly and that's why it must use the mount local shares path vs the normal share path.

Will mark this one as solved.

I just looked at my disk stats and it looks like it adds mounts for the new shares as drives in this format. //127.0.0.1/Videos

So now there's like 14 shares/drives in that tab. Is that what's supposed to happen?

Yes.

There is a bug in disk-stats App in which those locally mounted shares are not hidden. You can follow guidance in bug 1493 to hide them.
