MariaDB not started in UI - Can't install Greyhole

Postby johnny5shared » Sat Apr 02, 2016 1:55 am

I have been troubleshooting for hours. I'm trying to install Grehole on Amahi/Fedora manually because the app store has no buy now button.

Following these instructions

Immediately I get told Yum is depreciated, then I get an error...

Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'updates' from 'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64 [Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org]
[root@localhost lib]#

I noticed also the MariaDB server in the local HDA web UI is red / hasn't started. But I seem to be able to access the Fedora MySQL server from SSH. Except it wants a MySQL root password. I don't remember setting one up.

I'm a bit of a Linux noob so please be kind.

Note I tried the script on Github to gather system settings but it runs without a fail or output. curl -Ls http://bit.ly/gh-infos | sudo sh

The MariaDb server is a known bug. See Troubleshooting for details.

As for Greyhole, do not follow the manual install guidance you referenced. The greyhole-ui App is available in the App Store. You must log into amahi.org to purchase apps. Then refresh your available apps list on the HDA to install.

There is manual guidance for installing Greyhole in the Amahi wiki. The wiki is the primary source for how to's and other specific Amahi guidance.

Thanks for the reply

I'm spending $NZ so it's a little cost prohibitive to buy unfortunately.

I'm now following the manual instructions on the Amahi Wiki here. But am still getting the "Synchronize cache error".

I can SSH to the HDA, and my network is up so I can't understand why it's not working.

Please attach a copy of your /etc/greyhole.conf file.

Also provide the URL for the following:

OK I got connectivity. I had my router address wrong from a previous attempt to set up Amahi as the DHCP server. I have decided to not leave the server on all the time so will revert to the router as DHCP. I arrived at the problem by using the network trouble shooter at amahi.net (local)

It seems to be up and running:) However when viewing the log I see this error a lot:

Apr 02 22:11:31 WARN write: No metadata files could be created. Will wait until metadata files can be created to work on this file.
Apr 02 22:11:31 DEBUG sleep: Only locked files operations pending... Sleeping.

When accessing the shares on my local network I'm told they are full.

To test GH I set all my large files to only one copy (these files already existed on the OS drive in shares - movies and music). I set pictures to two copies. And I had no pictures on the HDA already, but can't copy some over to see them get dispersed.

Could it be a config issue or are things halted due to available space?

I have 3 drives installed, but only the two non OS drives in the pool.

Did you add the drives to the storage pool?

May want to check the troubleshooting guide in the Amahi wiki for Greyhole.

Can you attach /etc/greyhole.conf file? Might be a clue in there?
