Have you done

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
Might want to do that if not. It might help fix any issues. If all else fails, you can try installing a lower version of Greyhole until the issue goes away.

I believe he latest version available for Ubuntu is 0.9.48.

That is a very old version. It probably has a lot of bugs and issues. If you want to go back to the original version that was released with Amahi for Ubuntu, it was 0.9.22.

Have you tried installing 0.9.48? That version just came out a few days ago I believe.

Thanks Bigfoot for your time and help... the machine seems to be cropping up with a bunch of other issues now all of a sudden. Since it's still early in the re-install phase, I'll do another re-install and be more careful about what I'm doing. If ok, can we leave this thread open in case I have the same issues when I'm back up and running?

If you are going to reinstall, may I suggest you abandon Ubuntu and go with Amahi 7? We no longer support Ubuntu with app updates and new features.

Our latest stable release is Fedora 19 and it works quite well. It's much leaner, faster, and supported fully with apps and new features.

*sigh* Alright. I'm a fan of ubuntu, and have used the machine for other side tasks... but it did get hacked in the last few months leading me into this mess... so ok

Never a good idea to use your production server as a playground :) Best to keep them separate.

Also best to make a backup occasionally. Clonezilla Live CD works well.

Well I had handbrake installed on it, and I wrote a python script to automate batch encoding of video files... so it was nice to have a "side" machine using its resources doing that. Or two machines simultaneously... Sped things up quite a bit.

I'll give this fedora 19 a shot I suppose. Any time I saved has now been lost so I'm back to square one.

Oh, quick question.
That ubuntu version handled my two 3TB drives no problems... Will this version as well?

Yes, there is guidance in the wiki for mounting them.
