Greyhole / rsync

Postby gorillazgr » Wed Jan 29, 2014 1:46 pm

just installed a fresh Amahi 7 and done with greyhole install...

but because I am a curious mind and I play often with fire
has anyone tested to change the copy method from "cp" to "rsync" within the /etc/greyhole.conf ?
#### Copy Method ####
# Possible values: cp, rsync
# cp is less CPU-intensive, and generally faster than rsync, which is still
# available for backward compatibility

# copy_method = cp
I would like to have any opinion about this (what is the default method if it is commended out?)

thanx ...

ps:
I have done
rpm -q rsync
and got
rsync-3.0.9.-8.fc19.x86_84
so I guess rsync is already installed in Fedora 19

Been 4 months since I last checked, any ETA yet on Greyhole integration? I'm eager to take advantage of the new features but not eager enough to step out onto the thin ice of the Amahi wiki.

That document was doomed the moment Amahi decided to rollout an Ubuntu version & as more features and apps are added it's been getting more & more difficult to decide what applies to what.

We are close to a release of the greyhole plugin. Sorry, no date yet.

BTW, the wiki guidance is clear and concise. Took me 10 minutes to get Greyhole up and running. Many Linux newbies have stated it was simpler than they thought it would be to configure.

We are doing our best to maintain the wiki but rely largely on the community to assist. The Amahi 7 area of the wiki is fairly well organized for install and configuration of the HDA in my opinion.

If you would like to help make the wiki better, please request an account from https://wiki.amahii.org. We welcome any assistance in cleaning things up.

Any update on the plugin? As time allows of course, eventually a proper GUI and integration would be neat. I'm assuming I'm not the only one who sees Greyhole as a major draw to Amahi.

Hopefully in the next few weeks. GSOC is our primary focus at this time.

Nothing new to report. GSOC remains the primary focus.

We will make an announcement when it's ready.

Is Greyhole built in yet?

If so, can someone update this page to say so. ---> https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_ ... #Amahi_7.4
If not, can someone update that page so it doesn't contradict itself.

Greyhole is installed in Amahi 7, however the Greyhole UI is now an app. You can purchase it in the Amahi store.

We are working on updating the release page, just have not gotten it done yet.

EDIT: This guidance should help as well: Greyhole for Amahi 7.
