Greyhole on Amahi 7

I will have to look at my setup. I ran the script that was included with Greyhole, which should be Amahi specific. Not sure, but was thinking the table might have already been there as I did not have to create it.

I will do a fresh install this weekend and see what I can sort out.

what table? are you referring to?

The Greyhole ones. When I implemented it on my Amahi 7 install, I just ran a script that was included with the Greyhole package, started the daemon, and it began.

the script you refer to may be the sqlite to mysql migration one.


in a system with nothing on it, I believe it initializes the db, user and the schema. if memory serves me right.

Please PM me your amahi.org user name. Also understand this app is ALPHA, so it could cause problems or break your HDA. I doubt it will, but want to add that disclaimer.

I successfully installed the Greyhole app, but is does not appear in the Shares Tab.
When I restart the Greyhole server in the Server Tab, it stops after some time.
Are there additional handlings to do?
I am not so familiar with manually configuring Greyhole.

There is no GUI for Greyhole currently. That was removed and something is in the works to potentially make it an app or plug in.

As for the status in the server tab, I will have to check on it. I hit refresh and mine was ok, but obviously yours behaves differently. Can you check the app install log for errors? It's located in /var/log folder.

There is some guidance in the wiki for doing manual configuration of Greyhole. Currently that is the only option.

var/log/greyhole.log gives the following error:

Aug 10 11:45:04 4 daemon: You have no storage_pool_drive defined. Greyhole can't run.
Aug 10 11:45:04 2 daemon: Config file parsing failed. Exiting.

it seems clear to me that i have something to do manually.....

Yes, this is where you modify the greyhole.conf file to include the drives/partitions you are including in the storage pool. There is some guidance in the wiki, but not a lot.

We are still working this area, so unless you are experienced/willing to play with Greyhole, you might want to wait for help.
