Files missing after folder rename.

Postby Barkus » Tue Jan 29, 2013 6:17 pm

I renamed a folder on my HDA using regular explorer on a Windows 7 machine. After the rename, most of the files in the folder disappeared, several did not however, which I suspect is because they are stored on another drive. If you need info on those files, let me know. I tried letting it sit awhile, which didn't help and I also tried running "greyhole -fsck", which also didn't help.

I then ran a debug query on the file and got the following:

Code: Select all

[root@MediaServer ~]# greyhole --debug="Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv" Debugging file operations for file named "Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv" From DB ======= [2012-04-25 07:12:11] Task ID 1150999: write Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv [2012-12-20 18:32:13] Task ID 25035276: fsck_file Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv [2012-12-20 23:11:20] Task ID 25123351: fsck_file Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv [2012-12-20 23:11:26] Task ID 25126600: fsck_file Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv From logs ========= grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end gzip: stdout: Broken pipe grep: Invalid range end From filesystem =============== Landing Zone: ls: cannot access /var/hda/files/movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/title00.mkv: No such file or directory Metadata Store: File copies: -rwxrw-r-- 1 tim users 7026474906 Mar 9 2012 /var/hda/drives/drive4/gh/Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]/tit le00.mkv
Checking the directory, does indeed show the files still exist:

Code: Select all

[root@MediaServer ~]# cd "/var/hda/drives/drive4/gh/Movies/Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]" [root@MediaServer Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]]# ls Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray].tbn mymovies-back.jpg mymovies.xml title00.dvdid.xml title00.mkv folder.jpg mymovies-front.jpg Thumbs.db title00.jpg
The folder was originally named "Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray][DL]" and was changed to "Alvin and the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked [Blu-ray]", dropping the "[DL]" part.

Would running another fsck with the "-o, --find-orphaned-files" option pick up the missing files again?

I'm wondering if the [xxx][xxx] is confusing the filename parser. Does it happen to directories that don't have that double bracket sequence in them?

No. A very large number of directories have the brackets and I have never had any trouble before.
