Hi!

I already searched through the forum and found a topic with this problem, but the answer in this thread doesnt helped me.

I worked only with the shares and used Windows XP

I copied the file to another directory

Code: Select all

Feb 11 13:37:37 7 rename: Changing tombstone: /var/hda/drives/drive1/gh/videos/TEMP/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi -> /var/hda/drives/drive1/gh/videos/SERIEN/N/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi Feb 11 13:37:37 7 rename: Updating symlink at /var/hda/files/videos/SERIEN/N/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi to point to /var/hda/drives/drive1/gh/videos/SERIEN/N/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi

Code: Select all

Feb 11 14:33:05 7 fsck_file: Loading tombstones for videos/TEMP/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi... Got 1 tombstones. Feb 11 14:33:05 4 fsck_file: WARNING! No copies of this file are available in the Greyhole storage pool. Feb 11 14:33:05 7 fsck_file: Saving 1 tombstones for videos/TEMP/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi Feb 11 14:33:05 7 fsck_file: Saving tombstones in /var/hda/drives/drive1/gh/.gh_graveyard/videos/TEMP/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi Feb 11 14:33:05 7 fsck_file: Saving tombstones (backup) in /var/hda/files/gh/.gh_graveyard_backup/videos/TEMP/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi

Code: Select all

Feb 11 14:54:18 7 fsck: Found /var/hda/drives/drive1/gh/videos/SERIEN/N/NCIS Los Angeles/Season 2/01 - NCIS Los Angeles - Jagd Ohne Ende.avi
So now I don't understand why greyhole believes that this file should be in the TEMP directory

What does this mean ?

Many Thanks
Frankster

You have a video share I take it, not using the movies one. I would say you might wanna check command line of the share to ensure you have the correct permissions on the share and files. It needs to be owned by your first admin user, not root.

All shares have to be owned by frankster:users and I see some owned by 500:users. Also, they are not all writable as they need to be as well.

You need to do the appropriate commands (chown and chmod) recursive on all the share directories and things will not work correctly.

You also have a TEMP directory that appears to be a share. Looks like you need to clean things up a bit or you will have worse problems later.

All files have permission 777
Some directories are also have 777 and the other directories have 775

I created the shares through the web interface, so I dont understand who user 500 is.
And why have the directories wrong permissions

Many Thanks

I am not sure I understand your shares structure. When you changed ownership, ensure you do:

Code: Select all

chmod -R frankster:users directory
That ensures you get all the files/subdirectories within the directory.

The lost + found does not matter and anything that says 500:users should be changed to your user. Not sure why you are seeing that permission. Are you using something other than terminal or SSH?

It is puzzling, but if you created shares via the dashboard and the files dir had 500. Has there been any modification done to your install? Did you use Full DVD or Express CD? Just curious.

I am not sure I understand your shares structure.
I posted my share structure at the beginning.
My starting point is /VIDEO
And then there are several substructures

Code: Select all

- KONZERT - A - ACDC - B - BB King
and so on...
When you changed ownership, ensure you do: chmod -R frankster:users directory
Sorry for these questions, but as you can see, my knowledge about linux isnt very good ;)
At which point I should typ

Code: Select all

chmod -R frankster:users directory
/var/hda/files or /var/hda/files/VIDEOS
And which permission should be defined

Code: Select all

chmod -R 775 frankster:users directory ?

Not sure why you are seeing that permission. Are you using something other than terminal or SSH?
I´m using ssh, WinXP and VNC for direct GUI access
Has there been any modification done to your install? Did you use Full DVD or Express CD? Just curious.
As you can see, I´m a total newbie and so I´ve done no modifications and I use a Full DVD ;)
I was going through the Amahi tutorial

Many Thanks for you help :)

As previously mentioned, the files within the directories under /var/hda/files (which is where shares are located) MUST be owned by frankster:users and not root:root. The only exception is the Greyhole ones (usually listed as gh) that can be left as root.

You can fix this by doing the following as root user:

Code: Select all

chmod -R frankster:users directoryname
For example, to do files it would be:

Code: Select all

chmod -R frankster:users /var/hda/files
This is based on my experience, so if I am wrong then hope someone points it out.

Hi!

Are you serious about "frankster:user" ownership ?

Before Greyhole
/var/hda/files/misc/TEST

Code: Select all

60 -rwxrw-r-- 1 frankster users 58694 15. Aug 2011 test.txt
After Greyhole
/var/hda/files/misc/TEST

Code: Select all

4 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 98 4. Mär 11:08 test.txt -> /var/hda/drives/drive2/gh/misc/TEST/test.txt
But if you look, the permission is lrwxrwxrwx
My read/write permission for the folder is "everyone" as you can see on the first post.

/var/hda/drives/drive2/gh/misc/TEST

Code: Select all

60 -rwxrw-r-- 1 frankster users 58694 15. Aug 2011 test.txt
Thanks
Frankster

I am not positive as I was going based on what my HDA shows. Now, I have a mix of root and username:users in my shares. My gh files are mostly username:users as well.

I upgraded to the latest Greyhole a while back, so maybe that changed things. Not sure as I did not pay close attention.
